Ethan "Speedster" Bird

Ethan has been playing soccer for four years now and he really excels at it.  He plays on the "Tigers" team and has received great instruction from his talented coaches. I think that the reason he does so well is because of his size, agility and SPEED.  Ethan is so quick that he literally comes out of nowhere and takes the ball down the field.  The ball doesn't always make it into the goal but Ethan never fails in giving it a good try.  Ethan was also the player that was never afraid to dive for the ball. In fact, he was usually the first one down and in the mud during the game. I hope that soccer is something that Ethan enjoys for a long time. He has a natural athleticism that allows him to really succeed.  However, I have a feeling that football will take over sooner than later.  I must say though, as I took these pictures of him, I truly loved watching him play. It always made me happy inside. It was like watching magic happen on the soccer field. Perhaps, it was because he was doing something that he loved doing and I could share in it with him and preserve those memories forever.

Family Shots

Here we are again, trying out this whole blog thing. I decided to start this blog so that I can have some record of what goes on in our life and so those that are far away can share the happenings of Bird life. I hope that you enjoy. These  round of pictures were taken before Christmas and I love them because they not only show the physical growth of the kids but I think that you can also see the kids and their personalities shine through. Enjoy!

Time Flies when you are having fun

This past few months have been filled with so many activities in the Bird house. First, we had the annual school Science Fair that both boys participated in. Hunter did a project on which brand of bubble gum lasts the longest. It was a lot of fun and we sure chewed a lot of gum. Ethan wanted to know what burned the fastest: wood, cotton or paper. Surprisingly, it was the cotton fabric that won. They were both so proud of their accomplishments that I think we will be doing many more science projects in the future.

We also just finished Ethan's basketball season. This was his first year playing and he really enjoyed it. He isn't the tallest player on the team but he was bound and determined to be the quickest player. I think that Ethan is generally happy playing just about any sport he can.

Week of Love

Last week was officially a week of love around here. We started off with heart shaped Cinnamon rolls which the kids loved to help make and eat. It was a great little treat to make with the kids because it taught patience and sharing. I think that it will definitely become a Valentine Day tradition. The rest of the week was filled with more treats, such as heart shaped brownies, raspberry heart shaped cookies, a giant, heart shaped rice krispy treat courtesy of my dear husband, and finally heart shaped pancakes on Saturday morning. The only pictures I took were the ones of the cinnamon rolls but I thought they were all cute.

Besides cooking, the other loves of my life were just as sweet. We all exchanged homemade Valentines on Saturday and had lots of little fun. The kids and I had a ball talking all about love and Valentines. I love my little Valentines. They bring me so much joy and we have so many laughs together. There is so much to say about each of them but I thought I would share why I especially love my true Valentine.

Roger, my dear husband, is truly a great inspiration to me. I love the way he treats our children, rarely getting mad or even raising his voice. I love that he is always excited to see me whether it is first thing in the morning or after a long day of work. I love his love for theh gospel. I love the way he treats other people, always seeing the good in somebody and trusting that they will treat him right too. I love it when he thinks of the little things that will make me happy like picking up my favorite treat when he doesn't even have to go to the grocery store. I love that he likes the same movies, music and things that I generally like. I love his arms around me when we are cuddling up watching a movie. I love the smile he always and I mean always has on his face. All in all, I love who he is, both inside and out. I love being married to him, I love laughing with him and I love sharing my life with him. I love my Valentine!
